Reporting Suspicious Emails in Outlook

What Is Changing?

The Outlook Report > Report phishing option shown below will no longer be available.


Starting Thursday, October 1, suspicious emails should be reported using the KnowBe4 Phish Alert button.

When Should I Use Phish Alert?

Use the Phish Alert button whenever an email:

  • Looks suspicious
  • Requests passwords or sensitive information
  • Contains unexpected links or attachments
  • Appears to be a phishing attempt

Do not click links or open attachments before reporting the email.

 

 

 

Reporting an Email with Phish Alert

Step 1: Select the Email

Open Outlook and select the suspicious email.

Step 2: Select Phish Alert

Click the Phish Alert button in Outlook.

 

 Step 3: Confirm the Report

A panel will open asking if you want to report the email.

Click Phish Alert again to submit it.

 

  

Step 4: Success

A confirmation message will appear indicating that the email was successfully reported.

Click OK to close the window.

 

 

Reporting a Suspicious Email in Outlook Mobile

Step 1: Open the Email and Select More Options

Open the suspicious email in the Outlook mobile app and tap the ... menu.

 Step 2: Select Phish Alert

Tap Phish Alert from the available actions.

  

Step 3: Confirm the Report

Review the email details and tap Phish Alert to submit the email.

  

Step 4: Report Complete

The email has been successfully submitted to the security team.

Tap OK to close the confirmation message.
